A Hike to the Ocean
Two special things about my return to Marin are being close to the ocean and reconnecting with old friends. Lee and I met each other in 1994 through our professional association, NAPO. I had not seen her for over 10 years. We shared our sadness last week as we attended the celebration of life of our mutual friend, Kathleen, who died in her sleep in August.
And in the spirit of Kathleen's motto, bringing joy to each day, we decided to renew our friendship with a hike to the Pacific and a picnic lunch. Here we are on our way back to civilization. It is about 2 miles out and 2 miles back and we gabbed the entire way and during our lunch, pausing only to chew and to enjoy the view.
It was a beautiful calm day with no wind which is very unusual for Tennessee Valley. Being by the ocean always nourishes my soul. And to enjoy this with a friend made it even more special.
Life is good and I am very thankful.
