My good friends Shirley and Iris arrived with a special gift from Jacksonville. It has quite a story behind it. Shirley met an artist who was painting scenes on gourds to sell at a local art fair. The woman had no local scenes. A friend had brought her one of my "California Street" Postcards that she had purchased in a local store. Then the artist painted "California Street" on the gourd. Shirley commissioned the artist to do another gourd for me. The artist even included my signature from the original work of art.

This is the gourd that Shirley had created for me.

Here we are holding the gourd.
After my friends left, I found the perfect plant to put into the gourd. Now it sits on my kitchen pass through counter reminding me of my Oregon days and my dear friends.
