Watercolor Journaling Group Today

Our journal group met in my home today. The sun was out but it is still pretty chilly. So, we had an indoor session.

My sister, Nancy, sent me this beautiful photo of tulips on her table. I tried to paint them, but was disappointed with the result.

I could not capture the wonderful light coming through the tulip petals... Oh well, nothing tried, nothing gained. It was good practice.

We enjoyed our brown bag lunches and shared our most recent pages. We also had a brief lesson on drawing an ellipse shape such as the top of a coffee cup.
Thanks, Sondra.
Someone brought a few poppies she had picked from her garden. They were put into a small Diet Coke can.

After the gang went home, I wanted to do something else, so I took a moment to capture the poppies before they faded away. California poppies are not intended to be cut flowers. In fact, it is illegal to pick them from public property. They are all over the country side right now and are so pretty against bright green of our fields and rolling hills.

Doing a page like this helps me remember the fun we had together today. We are a great group that has grown to be close and to enjoy each other's company.
