Doings at Corte Oriental

There have been 2 buck deer hanging out in the lot next door to my apt.
This 4 pointer shed his rack yesterday and is seen here with out horns.
You can see the spot on his head where he no longer has his horn.
They both sleep in this spot during the day and then head on out in the evenings.
I love having them so close.

The Rural Sketchers (Sonoma County) put out a challenge to have a subject to paint for the month.
This month is silver...so I got out two of my favorite sets of silverware, which, by the way are "Highly Prized" (the challenge of the month for the Sketchbook Challenge group).
I got to have one page  work for both challenges.

Our Watercolor Journal Group gathered at my home today.

The dessert spoons come from my great, great grandmother, Lizzie Burke.
As a child, I loved to have these on the table. We would stand them up in front of our place settings.
The soup spoons come from Stanford University.
My mother did some PR work for the University.
She was given 6 soup spoons from the Leland Stanford family collection.

Here are Kathleen, Jeanne and Jillian doing their pages.

Miriam does a page capturing my glass duck.

My other page was from a plant I brought home from Trader Joe's .... Signs of Spring.

Hi Elizabeth, what a nice blog you have! Love the silverware, and great story of how you have it. Looks like a nice gathering of friends too.

Hey I like the name of this blog!! I'm doing the "Highly Prized" journal project thing too. (You can see my entries on their Flickr group.) I want to win those art supplies!
