Each year the Redwoods' residents raise funds to provide scholarships for worthy graduating seniors.
It is a long and difficult process to narrow the field down to the 7 that received $3000.00 for their college education. Many of the recipients are the first in their families to graduate from high school and to then go on to college. Three of the young men live in West Marin .... not only have they done well academically but they have also worked hard on ranches and other jobs in order to help their families.
One young women has lived in a foster home for most of her life. She wants to be a social worker in order to help other youth as she has been helped by her foster family.
The life stories of these wonderful seniors was so inspiring. It makes us want to get busy and raise more funds for next year's group so we can help more than seven.

Seniors for seniors eh? Sounds like a great project. It helps some kids who don't see the different generations know that the older seniors are still worthwhile! Of course it can help older seniors know that the youthful ones are full of promist too.
