Schools are finishing up for the year and so there will be less activity in my neighborhood.
The Redwoods is located between a large high school and a middle school. I love having the kids around but I do not like the traffic mess at the beginning of the day.
One of my favorite online watercolor, pen and ink journal keepers has a new class.
I signed up for the next 6 weeks.
It is intended for beginners but I always find some helpful tips and ideas.
The teacher is Jane la Fazio .... here is my first page.
I have been using a makeshift arrangement for my worktable. It consisted of a piece of plywood over a Costco folding table. I hid the ugly arrangement under a plastic table cloth.
Today, that all changed. I took myself over to IKEA and choose a 30"x48" simple pine table.
The box weighed 65 pounds. I had some help from a strong guy in the parking lot to get it into my Honda Fit. It just fit, the box had 1/2" clearance. These little cars have so much interior room! Then, when I got back to The Redwoods, a couple of the maintenance guys helped me get it up into my apartment.
Three hours later, and after a few special words, I had it all put together. My tool box collection is meager. All I had was a small screwdriver and a small pair of pliers. It did take me awhile to twist and push each part with all my strength. What I really needed was a power driven screw driver but I had given mine away when I moved. After a lot of effort, I am happy with the result.
Here are two views.
The flowers on the table came from a downstairs neighbor.
I have been helping her learn how to
get her email and how to get around the internet.
Irises make me think of a couple of my
Jacksonville friends. And these blooms are gorgeous.
I love my new table and it goes well with
the IKEA storage unit that sits nearby.
I do my desk work, use my laptop,
eat some meals and play with paints ... a busy spot!
I also have a pine coffee table. Things are looking
pretty co-ordinated around here.
