Weekend Retreat on Mt. Veeder

I just got home from a wonderful weekend away with 35 other women. Our retreat was held at Enchanted Hills Camp which is a camp for visually impaired children. It is owned by Lighthouse for the Blind. It was so inspiring to realize that children can come here and have a full and rich camp experience.  The Camp is located on Mt. Veeder which is west of Napa. It was 12 miles up a steep and windy road and when you got there, you thought you were far, far away from civilization.

This was my dorm. I opted for a single room and was pleased to have time by myself when surrounded by so many women. I love being with people AND I love my own space.

The dining hall is border by a beautiful pond.

This is one of the many cabins for staff. As you can see, all the trails have a rope line so campers and adults can go all over the property following the ropes. Some of us tried to take a walk with our eyes closed, it was a little scary and very interesting to find our that other senses were more active.

I walked a one mile loop through the redwoods before breakfast. What a great way to start my day!

At the end of the weekend, we thanked the kitchen staff with notes of appreciation and a gratuity.
They did a fabulous job catering to our different eating preferences.
There was a vegan choice at every meal and it was delicious.
What a treat to go away and be able to eat wonderful food that fits my food plan.

We had a time for meditation and I found this sweet periwinkle colored flower on top of a straggly weed.  It reminds me that there is beauty every where if I just take the time to be quiet and receive the gifts that God has for me.

This was a page from my note book

and

I did a quick sketch of the pond in my new journal.
