The building next to me, Building 11 is first. All the folks on the ground floor have been relocated to the other side of the campus. Those of us on the 2nd and 3rd floors have to grin and bear it as the building is re done. The sewer lines run under the concrete ... so the ground floor hallways will have cement cutters doing their thing all next week. We also get to experience the constant hammering as the buildings are being re-clad on the exteriors.
I am watching with great interest, as our Building 8 is next.
So far I have pretty calm but when I saw the netting
go up on Friday, I lost it.
The corners are wrapped with this netting for safety purposes.
I have claustrophobia and need a lot of light and openness.
I have no drapes for that reason and like a clean, light
uncluttered look. I even prefer to leave my front door ajar.
Hopefully, by the time they start our Building in April, they will have found a better way to keep people safe from dropped objects from way up high.
Here are some photos to show the progression of events.
First, the ground floor folks got moved out.
Then the scaffolding went up.
Here is the dreaded netting wrapping the corners of the building.
We have a covered walkway around the building as one can not enter on the ground floor.
We are having a lot of sewer work going on
at the same time as the apartment buildings are being done.
It seems as though the ground is already broken
but here is the invite.
Finally, this is the little watercolor image I did to remind
myself to stay calm and to not get my knickers in a twist.
I have made copies of these untwisted knickers
and I hand them out to folks that seem super stressed.
Attitude is every thing and I hope to keep a positive attitude
throughout this process of living in noise, confusion and the
impact of having one's "nest messed".
