A Few More Journal Pages

This page has a copy of the front of a card that I made as a Board member of the Larkspur Library. I am disappointed with the quality of the reproduction of the image. My printer is giving me lots of problems with color. It is time for a new printer but I am putting it off for awhile. I was happy to be able to make a card for the staff rather than having a store bought variety. Hopefully, next year, it will be more bright and happy!

I took a 1/2 off coupon to an art store in Santa Rosa to buy this set of 15 Caron D'Ache watercolor wax crayons. They are very bright and clear colors that work well with water. I had fun dropping water on the mixes on the page and they blended really well.

The page below was an exercise from last week's lesson.

I learned a lot about what I do and do not like about the different media one can use in a journal. As you can see, the pen and ink and watercolor are my favorite. There is a sparkle and luminosity with watercolor that I find hard to replicate with other media. Colored pencils take a lot of time and patience. You need to lay down layer after layer and then blend. My 2nd choice is watercolor pencils. You can put down the color with pencils and then touch with water and they come to life. They are handy to use if you are out and need to stay "neat" and contained.

I am so happy to have found my "media" and it is good to experiment with others, too.
