My "Pared" Down Christmas Decor

The holidays are fast approaching and it was time to get my apartment all decked out with its Christmas finery so I went into my storage locker to get my decorations and ornaments. I found the first and not the second. In an effort to pare down before my move, I had selected my most treasured ornaments and had put them into a large popcorn can. These ornaments were not the fanciest or the prettiest but those that were made by my children or that had a special memory attached to them.

If you can read the text on this journal page, you will know that I had to "let go" of the popcorn can that was no where to be found. I was able to put some sweet little birds on a very small tree. The tree and a few Christmas things that I do have make a very nice arrangement on my sideboard.

I am learning what is really important,
not things but relationships with people I love.

This is a beautiful Christmas tree! Like you, we are simplifying --- it's so nice to focus on what really matters without the distraction of "stuff".
