Watercolor Journaling Class at MV Rec. Center

I taught an all day watercolor journaling class today. I had 4 beginners that had never played with watercolor so it took awhile to acquaint them with the medium and their supplies.
We started with a wash, moved on to a simple color wheel and then did our first page.

Every one jumped right in and got to work.

I demonstrated quite a few things and suggested elements of a page
and different ideas for pages.

Ray did a great first try using our bunny subject... here is his page.

Shirley wrote about the bunny. She is a friend and thus knows about purple bunny.
Here is her text. "I belong to Elsa, but her Oma took me on a field trip today."

Paulette likes to include special quotes and poetry on her pages.

Julie had fun not only painting her palette but painting her well used paper towel!

Here is a sample page I did along with our group.

It was a very fun day... I did come home and collapse on the couch.
I've been battling a cold so my energy level is not back to where
I would have wanted it to be today.

Looks like a fun class - wish I could take it (but I'm afraid it would be a pretty long commute from Oklahoma).

Interesting moment, I'm sure and rewarding in the end, in spite of the cold !

So wish I could have been there! There are never enough of these types of classes offered and in my area - none. The results are amazing!

I'm just preparing a sketchbook/journal class to teach in Sydney, so it is interesting to see what someone else is doing. Thanks for the warning about the waterbrush.
Many people are not familiar with them.
