Rural Sketchers of Sonoma

Jeanne and I drove up to Petaluma today to meet with a group from Sonoma that meets to sketch, draw and paint. They gather on Saturday mornings a couple of times a month. Petaluma is very near Marin so the drive was not far. We were a small group of 5. It was nice to meet some fellow sketch book enthusiasts.

This is the sign that points the way to the Apple Box. We sat outside for 2 hours to paint and the cafe staff did not seem to mind. Jeanne and I got a coffee and a treat so we did not feel strange about using their table and chairs.
There were lots of folks and lots of dogs, especially little ones. I could not believe my eyes when one woman appeared with her tiny dog in a dog stroller. That is a new one for me.
I thought one walked dogs for exercise, apparently not .... when the dog is little he deserves his own netted stroller!

The condo behind the restaurant was very complex with lots of angles... I decided to do just an impression as there is no way, with my lack of drawing and perspective skills, that I could do an accurate rendering.
It was a fun project... and I enjoyed sitting in the sun with old and new friends.

Jeanne and I had a bowl of soup before we headed back down to Marin.
It turned out to be a lovely day, not too hot, just right.
