Earlier this week, I brought home a lace cap hydrangea from my daughter's garden, it is an intense deep violet with a lighter center.... the color got a little over done. I'm going to try this again with pen and ink and lighter wash of color to see if I like it better.

This morning 4 of us took ourselves to the town of Mill Valley. There is a wonderful coffee shop/bookstore that was originally the Depot. Usually, there are lots of folks out on the plaza. When we arrived it was in the low 50's, foggy and windy. Not a good day for plein air. We spent the first hour inside with our warm drinks and then bravely faced the elements to paint outside the second hour. Just a few souls were outside... this fellow had a puffy down vest on over his wool sweater. Just the right thing for mid July in California!

It seems that the good Lord above waits for Tuesdays to send cold windy days our way.
Stay tuned, soon I'll be complaining that it is too hot to be out doing our journals!
