Here is my new home at The Redwoods, a senior community in Mill Valley.
I moved from 1200 sq ft to 500 sq ft over the weekend.
It went really well and I had some super help from family and friends.
I wanted to take some photos to share with you even though I have not put the finishing touches or have hung most of my paintings.
My Bedroom is tiny but I was able to create a reading corner, with my favorite chair.
The bath is small but efficient.
It has a tub/shower and the bath tub is actually larger than the one I had in Greenbrae.
It also has a heat lamp, very nice!
The Kitchen has a small stove/oven and refrigerator.
The sink is like a bar sink.
I need to wash dishes as I go as there is little room for them to gather!
There is not much counter space.
That's OK, because there is not too much cooking going on.
I eat very simply - salads, soups and things I can pop in the microwave.
I managed to squeeze in my art table which is also my computer table.
I don't have a dining table, but that is fine as I do not eat at the table very much.
My walls are still bare. I do have my comfy couch and swivel chair.
I have a great view of the ridge line and Mt. Tam beyond.
I like to swivel around and look outside as I eat or read.
I just found two small chairs at my local drug store.
They were only $20.00 each... they are surprisingly comfortable and look good on my pint sized deck.
And here is my view.. my unit is on the top floor of this building.
The top deck to your right is mine.
I am so very grateful to be in my new home and meeting such nice people.
The staff here is great, so helpful and pleasant.
I think I will be very happy in my new home.
It feels cozy and serene.

I'm a little bit jealous! I'd like to have my own home where I am boss (I know, I am married and have to share but I don't always like it) and I am thinking I want something very small so it doesn't consume my time taking care of it (I am thinking of something smaller than you have actually or maybe your home's size if by the time I get it, I can't climb a ladder to go to bed). I think your home looks lovely already; the pictures hung will only add a finishing touch.
It's adorable! I sometimes miss my apartment days. Everything taken care of, steps for just about everything and always someone about. I think you're going to be very happy!
Love the pops of red in the kitchen area and it won't take long before the walls are colorful again with your art.
So glad you're back! (and moved in). It looks so cozy and comfortable--and you can still paint, etc. The final signiture will be your Art on the walls and it will be "all yours."
I'll be watching for your wonderful drawings/watercolors.
What a lovely apartment and the windows with views are divine! You've placed your furniture to be so functional and yet extremely pleasing to the eye. It sounds like you were ready for this downsize and I'm sure you'll do GREAT in your new place!!
Oh this is a charming home with a wonderful view. I hope you'll be very happy here for many years to come.
Best wishes - your little nest looks comfy and inviting.
It looks LOVELY, Elizabeth, and what a view.
