We have had a vey rainy week here in Marin.
A fellow Redwoods' friend and I chose to sit in a brightly lit hall to do our pages.
The Redwoods has floor to ceiling window filled halls that connect the separate buildings.
This large geranium plant sits in front of some south facing windows.
It does really well in the sun.
The geranium belongs to a resident named Daphne.
When I asked her about it, she told me the plant is over 60 years old.
It came with her when she moved here from Larkspur.
Then she said, "Just cut off a shoot and start your own."
Apparently, many people have done just that and this parent plant has many children ensconced in the apartments and decks of The Redwoods.
Outside, Tam High (located across the street) was having a Disaster Preparedness Drill..
so there were emergency vehicles, sirens, helicopters and a lot of activity going on.
While, inside, Audrey and I sat quietly and painted our pages.
It was quite a contrast, serenity across the street from a lot of "emergency".

Wow, a 60 year old geranium! I can't grow them where I live, even indoors as the cat or the lack of enough sunshine destroys it. Yours is wonderful and I do hope you took a sprig to start a new one. It sounds like you and your new friend found the perfect way to spend a rainy day.
