Every once in a while, I redo
my small metal palette.
I have space for 21 colors
I can put into my palette.
I use tubes of colors instead of using pan paints.
This gives me many more choices
and is cheaper, too.
I just squeeze the paint from the
tubes into the palette pans.
I made a color chart so I could see
exactly what I had and what the colors
look like on the paper.
Different makers have different names for
similar hues and tones.
I realized I had lots of paints
that I have not used for years.
I decided to give away the duplicates and
tubes that are very close in color.
I realize I have my favorites and do
not use too many earth tones.
I rarely paint landscapes and mainly do
flowers and still life pages.
So, happily I now have a bag full
of watercolor tubes to pass on
to a good friend. She has just returned
to painting. I am delighted that she is once
again enjoying this wonderful medium.

I put paint charts in all of my paint boxes. I even did that with my watercolor pencils--except that I bought a huge set of Inktense WC Pencils, and there are too many of those to record...or maybe i'm just getting lazy ? I sure have a stack of journals full of painted memories and trips. That's fun!!!
Keep posting--I love your sketches and paintings.
