Tuesday, our Watercolor Journal Group met
in a beautiful garden bordering
SF Bay in Tiburon.
This is our third time here and
Joan's garden is always gorgeous
as well as being right on the water.
I decided to do this part of her garden filled
with lush hydrangeas, cala lilies and rhodies.
I also loved the buoy perched on top of a post
that provided a place for the faucet and hose.
I am attracted to the fun and whimsical.
There was still time to paint
after I did my first page
so I painted this watering can.
Old fashioned watering cans are an
important metaphor for me.
They remind me to give out of
my overflow or abundance,
rather than giving from my reserve.
If you fill up one of these cans to the brim,
the water flows
out of the spout without
even having to lift the heavy can.
I want my giving and sharing
to not include "hauling" and "efforting"
but to be able share God's love from
the abundance and blessing with which I am filled.
