A Photo Shoot in my "Nest" at The Redwoods

Stuart Lirette spent some time in my apartment last month taking photos for a Capital Fund Drive that we are launching this year. The Redwoods is 40 years old and needs some TLC. The buildings need updating and we need a new Kitchen and Dining Room. I think these photos are becoming part of a DVD the the fund raisers will use.

Here are the shots he took.

I love the fact that my "Nest" is in the tree tops.
Having a wall of window makes my small
apartment seem spacious and open.

This wide angle lens widens the room.
I spend a lot of time at "My Studio".

A little serious painting going on here!
I love having everything near by that
I can reach. This table is my desk/art table/
and dining table, too!

My bedroom has a window and mirror set
up to bring more light into the room.

I love reading by the window and enjoying
the natural light. I spend some time reading
and writing in a journal each morning.
Hearing the birds outside in the trees
is a great way to wake up in the morning.

Making tea, a favorite activity that happens
several times a day. The Ikea room divider works so
well. It not only separates my kitchen from
my living area but is so handy to store
things. When I am at my table, everything is
within my fingertips.

The Millard Sheets watercolor that hangs over
"My Studio" is a constant source of inspiration
and pleasure. I have been looking this painting since
childhood and it continues to bring me joy.
When I decided to try painting at age 60,
I choose watercolor as a medium
because of growing up with Millard Sheets.
