A New Way to Play with Pens and Pencils

On our last Watercolor Journal outing, one of our artists
shared how much she was enjoying doing Zentangles.
She showed us some of her Zentangles that were in her book.

Of course, I am always ready to try some thing new.
I looked Zentangle up on line and found a whole world of
black and white. There are web sites galore as well as many
instructional videos on You Tube.

I love books so I ordered The Joy of Zentangle.

Here are a few of my first attempts at the new art form.

I am finding it very relaxing and meditative, just as the
teachers say on their web sites and videos. Each small tile
takes about 15 minutes to complete using
just a pencil and pen and a 3.5" square inch
piece of hot press watercolor paper.

You can buy the tiles but I have lots of paper to cut up
and use around here.

Random Patterns done on a small rectangular card.

Squares that I did watching an instructional video.  I love the Auraknot Zentangle.
