October's Swan Song

The Redwoods had their annual bazaar last weekend.
It is a huge event and almost every one who lives here
helps out in some way or the other.
Our public rooms are filled with tables of goodies.
People line up to get through the door when it opens.
We made over $16.000.00  this year.
This money helps to fund the expenses
of running our bus service.
Last Sunday was a day of rest for most of us...
we were all pretty tired having worked hard
to make it such a success.

This is our auditorium all set for the masses to descend.
There are boxes of more treasures to put out
under each table. We had lots of donated goodies.

I worked selling plants. I have a special fondness
for old watering cans. This one was filled with
zinnias. I hope to do a painting of this some day.

We had a very special service to remember our
loved ones for All Saints' Day. We each took
a leaf from a basket, spoke the name and then
left our leaf on the altar steps. It was a very moving
ritual and almost each person at the service
came forward to remember some one they loved.

The trees on  our block are so beautiful right now.
Here is a row of Chinese Pistachio trees that line
our Miller Street area. These are favorite trees of mine.

Today is November 1st!
I can't believe how quickly time
passes when you are older, like me.....
