An Amazing Cactus Bloom

My friend, Jeanne, invited me over to her home today to see an amazing bloom on her Christmas Cactus Plant... the colors were so vibrant. We sat on her deck and tried to do a watercolor of the flower. The sun kept drying our paints and leaving hard edges but we had fun playing with the paints. A squirrel scolded me loudly because I was too near the feeder and was in his way.

Here is what I did in my journal.... I did not try for too much detail. I wanted to try to match the color, which was hard to do.. the pinks were so vibrant. Had I had my wonderful Daniel Smith Quinacridone colors with me, I could have done a better job.

It was so restful to be sitting on Jeanne's deck with a glass of ice tea and our paints...doing these journals has created new friends for me which is a very nice thing.
