Paint Out at Dominican University

Our Marin Watercolor Journaling Group met on the campus of Dominican University this morning. School was out so it was quiet and we had a lot of privacy to explore and find places and things to capture in our journals. I started with Angelica Hall because I like the lamp posts.... My lamp was too short in proportion to the building but I still enjoyed the process. It is a lovely old building with lots of greenery all around.

Notice the misspelling of Angelica... I missed the "l". This often happens with calligraphers. They are so intent on the design that they miss a letter or just misspell the word. I think it is a left brain, right brain thing. Any way, I went back and added it.

I found a lovely shady garden off the beaten path and did just a small vignette of the ferns, rocks and some pretty little purple flowers.

The Dominican Sisters are gathering this week for their annual retreat. I had a wonderful surprise. One of my favorite people walked by as I was painting.
It was Sr. Gervaise, a good friend for many years. I was able to say a quick hello and to give her a warm hug. It was a true gift to me.
