Marin Morning Sketching Group

An artist friend, Jeannie, and I headed on down to Fort Baker which is under the Golden Gate bridge (on the Marin side) to meet a group of sketchers. This group has been meeting for many years. Originally, it was a College of Marin class and then it evolved to a group of people who enjoy going out and sketching each Monday. It was nice to meet some of the artists, they were very friendly and warm towards us.

It was some what foggy and windy, which is typical for a summer day on the Bay. I carry an extra fleece vest and windbreaker in the back of my car. One of my new artist friends, Mike, happily borrowed them from me during our session. Some times "being prepared" works out well to make new friends.

A sea gull sat for a long time right in front of me, so I had to put him into my book. It was a very pleasant morning and I think we will try this group again. They are loosely organized and do not gather to share their renderings at the end of the outing. I walked around and looked at a couple of people's work.

Jeannie and I stopped for a Chinese lunch on our way home. We go out again tomorrow on our Marin Watercolor Journaling Group outing. My days are getting full with fun outings. Jeannie and I are also considering the Marin Watercolor Society that paints plein air every other Saturday. Whew, I may have to buy some more paint!
