Watercolor Journal Group in San Geronimo

Our Watercolor Journaling Group went out to San Geronimo to paint at a friend's home. Judy had all sorts of wonderful things for us to record on our pages.

Phyllis captured this lovely flower. She is using professional grade watercolors for the first time and is so pleased with the amount of pigment that her new paints have as she places them on her paper. There is a BIG difference between student and artist grade watercolor paints. It can be very frustrating for beginners to start off with poor quality paints. They simply do not get the good results that artist or professional grade paints create.

Phylliss B. painted some sunflowers as well as some other flowers. There were so many different flowers to see. Phylliss B. is a new member of our group and we are delighted to have her join us on our outings.

Miriam did a couple of pages of flowers, too. She has her own wonderful veggie garden and she brought some produce for us to enjoy.

This is my page, a pot pourri of different things I saw around me. When I asked Judy about the china dinner plates that surrounded one bed of plants in her veggie garden, she said they discouraged the birds and racoons. I had never seen dinner plates used for a border on a garden, so I had to paint that, for sure.

We had a time to share our work and new ideas after our painting session.

Here is our hostess showing us her page that she had yet to complete... so no up close photo, please. Before we left, Judy loaded us all down with Gravenstein apples from her tree. We were sitting right under the apple tree that produced so many apples. She told us that last week we would have been hit on the head with falling apples if we had chosen this spot.

Jeanne shares her page that she did today... a lovely rendering of Judy's home.

She also shared a page from our outing yesterday when we went to Fort Baker.

I really love her Golden Gate Bridge and the way she put "our" seagull on the page.

It was a lovely day, we stopped and had lunch in San Geronimo on the way home.

Hi Lady- Enjoy the tales of your group and their improving skills. Do you think if I put dinner plates around my flower garden, the deer would stay out? :)
Happy painting!
