Art By The Inch

Yesterday, a friend and I went up to the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art at Hamilton. They have an annual fund raiser, Art By The Inch. In the gallery is a 100 foot mural that is about 6 feet tall and very long! The artists painted sections of the mural in their genre and style.

It was fun to see the parts of the mural that seemed to be more "popular" than others judging from the number of cut outs. Sue and I took one of the framing mats and walked around choosing our favorites that we would enjoy having in our homes. We each left with a small piece as a memento of our day.

Hamilton is in the middle of a 5 year project to reclaim the wetlands of SF Bay. We took a hike along the levee to see what they were doing. It was fascinating to read about the history of the area and how they are getting ready to prepare the area to be able to open the levees and allow the bay waters back into the marshes where it belongs.

It's good to know they are taking care of the wetlands.

So you got one square inch of the mural or was it however many inches you paid for?
