Due to my fair Irish skin and years and years of
being outside enjoying sports,
I am now paying the price with skin cancers.
I've had quite a few in my "elder" years.
The last two I've had were not much fun
as they were melanomas.
On Wednesday, the surgeon got rid
of the most recent unwelcome visitor.
Although, it is no fun to have your leg carved on.
What makes it OK is all the love, support and
prayers that have been coming my way.
My small apartment is filled with flowers
and cards. My fridge is filled with food that
friends and family have brought to me.
This is especially nice as I eat a plant based
diet and people have honored my vegan desires.
Living in a Senior community is nice, too.
People drop by and keep me company.
My door stays open and as my hall mates
pass by, they pop in to say Hi.
Hopefully, in a couple of weeks I will
be back on my feet enjoying the outdoors.
You can be sure that I will be wearing
a hat and lots of sunblock.
