Watercolor Journal Workshop at Asilomar

The Watercolor Journal Workshop at Asilomar was every thing
I had hoped for and more.
We started out with learning to make our own journals
Brenda Jatho took us step by step and made it easy and fun.

How to make the cover... and how to line the inside covers.

Then we learned how to take each folio and make signatures.
We sewed each signature into the book using ribbons to secure them.

After the books were all put together, we make two big stacks
and pressed them under a pile of old World Books.

Here we are celebrating the completion of our book binding.

The rest of the time was spent learning a lot of new
tips and techniques and ideas of how to create
journal pages and using watercolor.
Gay and Christine made it a lot of fun.
Their motto is ... "Our goal is imperfection."
This attitude made it fun to experiment and
try out new ideas. We went through lots of paper and
lots of paint. It was so interesting to see each other's pages.
There was a lot of laughter in the room.

Here is the title page of my watercolor journal.

The suitcase is filled with journals that Brenda had already made.
Several people bought them. The buckets were for water for
us to use for our brushes. One clean and one dirty.
I thought the two images represent from start to finish.

And here is another page.

Here we are with our new journals.

Christina Lopp Schwabecher, Brenda Jatho and Gay Graeger
were our instructors.
They each did a fabulous job.

And this was the view below our housing at Asilomar, pretty spectacular!  My friend, Joan and I drove home along Highway One today with crystal clear weather. It was a beautiful drive.

My cup runneth over with so many rich and wonderful
experiences.
